The project addresses the needs of seniors and residents living with dementia by improving spatial clarity, orientation, and everyday navigation within the neighbourhood.
Organised into colour-zoned clusters, each residential block is identified through bold, large-scale numerals to support legibility from a distance.
A secondary layer of identification is introduced through a system of icons derived from familiar fruits and vegetables. Selected for their cultural association and ease of recall, these symbols reinforce memory-based navigation and help residents recognise their home blocks more intuitively.
Wayfinding elements are applied consistently across key touchpoints, including block entrances, lift lobbies and sheltered walkways. Signage placement and scale are carefully calibrated to maximise visibility while integrating seamlessly into the existing built environment.
Together, the system creates a clear and supportive navigation experience that enhances independence, safety, and confidence for residents within the Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 neighbourhood.
